Here, we address the fundamentals of our activity:

"A great technology, a compelling vision, more money and brilliant people are not enough to get your product off the ground. At CalaRos Bay, we understand the ten issues that your product must overcome in order to be successful. And, most of all, we know how to address them all for your benefits."

1) Not a clear understanding about the user's problems, needs and wants,

2) Lack of process from the original idea to the actual product launch,

3) Poor awareness of the target market,

4) Poor branding, or, worse, no branding at all,

5) Inconsistent messaging across the various exposures (advertising, website, brochure),

6) Inadequate (too low or too high), and/or confusing pricing,

7) Poor distribution channels,

8) Poor understanding of the competition,

9) Failing to up-sell current customers,

10) Poor sales tools to help qualify and close deals.

Before you decide to engage with consultants, you may want to ask yourself the following:

1) Are they legitimate? - YES

CalaRos Bay is a registered corporation with the state of California.

2) Have they provided samples of similar work? - YES

Most of our past achievements are confidential to our customers, thus we cannot publish them here, but we can show examples of similar work during interviews.

3) Are they willing to structure the deal in a way that works for you? - YES

Our contracts are flexible enough to address the vast majority of the cases; would you need us full time or part time, for an hour, a day, a week, a month, a quarter, a semester or a year, we are able to structure the deal to suit your constraints.

4) Do they charge a reasonable fee? - YES

A reasonable fee means a fee that is consistent with the service requested, and with the cost for us to run our business. We are a small company, and our costs are very well contained and monitored. The same attention is brought to your project as we do to operate our company. In the end, we propose a fee according to the level of service and in phase with the current market; you are assured that we will remain in business to complete your project and move on to the next one. Sometimes, however, we may walk away from a deal if we believe that it would hurt our company or yours, just like you would do for your company.

5) Do they provide a written proposal with milestones and payment terms? - YES

We always put in writing all the terms and conditions, deliverables and timetables of the project.

6) Do they have the appropriate level of experience? - YES

Please check our People page; if you believe that we don't comply with your expectations, then feel free to look for another source. We'd be very sorry to see you walk away, but we understand and accept it. The only thing, though, please come back and check us again for a future project.

7) Do they offer the appropriate mix of strategy versus execution for your needs? - YES

And the proof is here: we're running our own company. We drive our own strategy plan, create our own business plan and achieve our objectives, get advices from highly skilled professionals, execute and measure our results. Just like you do.

Our company builds upon thirty years of successful contribution to the electronic industry, in large and small businesses, on both sides of the Atlantic. As such, we understand the seven key success factors of the services that we provide:

  1. Excellent communication skills,
  2. Leading without authority,
  3. Permanent learning skills,
  4. Business acumen,
  5. Love for products,
  6. Eye for details,
  7. Routine management skills.

Permanent employees are a good fit in many cases, however there are situations where you'd need external help:

- No permanent resource available:

If your company does not have permanent resources to add value to your product, CalaRos Bay is here to do it for you.

- Products life cycles are getting shorter, while skill sets are not always transferable:

As technology evolves rapidly, the products life cycles are getting shorter, and so does the life cycle of the resources assigned to it; one good fit for a particular product may not be so for another one.

- Sometimes it's a part-time position:

Certain products don't imply a full time workload, however, they do require full focus while in action; minor time consuming tasks not directly related to the project may cause your permanent employees to get side tracked and lose focus. In turn, they may lose their motivation and leadership capability as they stall every once in a while on the project. An independent contributor concentrates on your project and puts its expertise at the service of the work being done and the potential of your product.

Plus, you'll save time and money on employee benefits, vacation time, IT management (email account, data storage, phone, computer, software); we've taking care of this already for you.

- Protection and initiative:

When overly protected in a company's cocoon , people tend to lose what makes them look for better ways to do things. Improving from one project to the next one is the challenge that drives an independent contributor; this is how we run our business.

- Accountability:

As parts of a larger organization, and in an attempt to maintain some flexibility, it is often difficult to avoid fuzzy goals and measurement criteria for permanent employees. An independent contributor's contract always lists tangible deliverables that are measurable.

- Closed environment:

Your permanent employees evolve in the same company space and may lack openness to the outside. An independent contributor keeps learning by being exposed to different work and business environments, and brings in innovative methods to problem solving.

You may have heard the adage "a consultant is someone who borrows your watch to give you the time, and charges you for it".

At CalaRos Bay, we like calling ourselves independent contributors: we have our own watch and we are renowned to walk the talk.

Technology and Industry knowledge:

Understanding technology and what it takes to develop a product (hardware and software) is key in driving your customers towards accepting what can reasonably be done. CalaRos Bay is here to help you identifying the added value features that will make the foundations of your product and your business.

"Been there, Done that":

At CalaRos Bay, we have actually gone through the whole process: identifying the customer's perception of its needs, how the company can answer, designed successful products, created key messages and high selling value propositions, prepared efficient presentations, trained confident Sales forces, provided value added Application Support, and also provided efficient management for each one of these activities.

We also thrive at doing reverse product development, i.e., taking an existing product and identifying an adjacent market for it.

Improved Design Wins and Time-to-Revenue:

Too often there is a disconnect between the product's value, its value proposition and the perception that Sales forces have of it.

A well trained and confident Sales force will open doors that will make a difference with regards to your competitors.

At CalaRos Bay, we understand that, because we have been very successful at reformulating the Sales force training on product and Sales tools, resulting in improved design wins and time-to-revenue.

Return on investment:

Whether you hire a permanent employee or a temporary contributor (consultant/contractor), you want to make sure that your money is well spent.

Permanent employees are a good fit in many cases, however there are situations where they loose focus on the project as they are being side-tracked by minor time-consuming tasks.

At CalaRos Bay, each project is clearly defined in terms of deliverables and time frame, thus cost. While our basic rates are already very competitive, our fee structure allows for significant savings as the length of the project increases.

Improved Repeat Business:

CalaRos Bay benefits from years of success in application engineering support management and customer relationship; today, we make this expertise available to help you improve your operational efficiency and get repeat business from your hard-won customers.

Keeping the people who keep you in business:

It takes time and money to get your Sales force up to speed and you wouldn't want to see them leave your company too soon. It's no secret that confident Sales force will thrive in their environment. With their better understanding of your product, you will see an increased motivation and lower turnover.

Cross-cultural environment:

While North American and European cultures show similarities, their differences can be as many show-stoppers to the development of your business.

CalaRos Bay resources built their professional experience on both sides of the Atlantic; today, this valuable asset is available to help you get over the barriers and make your venture successful.

The implementation gap is the difference between what is being recommended to you by a consultant and what you can reasonably implement within your organization.

Counselling and planning are among the easiest tasks that one can perform. At CalaRos Bay, we make all the difference in the execution.

In other words, "we walk the talk".

As an entrepreneur, you want the money spent to bring much more money earned.

You're in good hands with CalaRos Bay, because we live by this motto as well, running our little company.

We understand that a product is not only a chip, or a board, or a box, or a piece of software.

A product encompasses the following:

... and the plus that makes all the difference that you'll only find at CalaRos Bay.
